Yesterday’s spoons have all been used
What can I use today?
I’m so tired and confused.
I need to find an extra spoon
I’m so tired and confused
I feel that I might faint soon.
I’m so tired and confused
I want to move but I can’t
Yesterday’s spoons have all been used
My body aches, my brain is tired
Yesterday’s spoons have all been used
I just don’t have the strength required
To carry on with my day unbruised
I’m so tired and confused
Yesterday’s spoons have all been used.

I have a chronic illness and I can be referred of as a spoonie. It’s term that relates to people with chronic illness in the way that they have to reserve spoons to get through the day. If you use too many spoons in one day you may not have the energy to do anything the next.
I've written my poem in the Villanelle style, five stanza with repeating lines.

I’ve never heard of the term spoonie before. Thank you for sharing your poem and for being so open about your illness.
I started reading this and knew exactly what the meaning was, my Daughter suffers a chronic illness and can relate #blogtober
A wonderfully written poem xx
Fantastic spoons.
I did think for a second you were on about spoons as in cutlery.
Fantastic poem, not spoons. lol
I always make the joke that Alanis Morrissette has all the spoons because of her song ‘Ironic’
“It’s like 10,000 spoons, when all you need is a knife’
But the spoonie theory does help somewhat in explaining why chronically sick people just suddenly seem to ‘stop’
Very clever and relatable for many people in different ways I think #Blogtober19
